I had been looking for some fun holiday themed activity to do with my little brother and came across the Winterlights display at Newfields in Indianapolis, Indiana. I wouldn’t say this is a hidden gem as it is fairly well known and posted about. But this was the first time I have been and I wanted to share some highlights and a little about our experience.

Is the Winterlights Winterwonder Pass worth it?
No. We purchsed the Winterwonderpass and it was absolutely not worth it. At all. If I were going to go again I would honestly just get the cheapest tickets and buy them further ahead before they sell out.
Pros of the Winterwonder Pass
The Winterwonder Pass does offer a flexible arrival, which is nice – especially since I was going with my brother, who has Down syndrome and getting places on time can be a challenge here and there.
We did get access to the second floor of the Lily House, which had some really pretty rooms, a free drink and a minimal cheese and cracker spread for snacking.
We also got to skip in line to get into the Lily House. The line wasn’t huge, but it was cold out and this was a nice little bonus.

Why the Winterpass isn’t worth it
It said it came with blinky lights, but we didn’t receive any. The check in for premier and winterpass was not clear at all and the line wait wasn’t long so it actually took us longer to get through because we had to go back and check in at the winterpass check in.
Also after seeing the parking situation it would have been nice if the winterpass included garage parking or something. The lots were all pretty full and we followed the staff directing traffic to an extremely muddy parking lot. Our shoes were damp and muddy before we even got in which I was not prepared for.
Overall I felt like the winterpass was extremely overpriced for what you got. It really wasn’t much extra – experience or otherwise, things were not clear and I think it would be just as much fun and a LOT cheaper to get the regular tickets.
Wheelchair Accessibility at the Holiday Lights Display
While we did not have a wheelchair with us this time, Winterlights did seem to be very wheelchair friendly. The crowd was not so tight that there would be too much difficulty navigating and all of the walkways were smoothly paved.
There is a garage, but you’d probably have to stop and ask an attendant as you come in, otherwise you would be directed to a lot that might not be accessible. We would not have been able to get a wheelchair though the muddy parking lot that we were in.
I did see at least one or two wheelchair users while we were there and this would be a great activity for someone with a chair. There are also not a ton of steep hills, so if you are pushing it wouldn’t be too rough.
